Mafikizolo back with a bang...

Most of you will remember them by their hit song “ndihamba nawe” which had everyone moving and shaking back then, can’t really recall when was that but all i know is that i was still in primary school. This Afro-pop sensation group was taking over the music scene like a wind sweeping through an open field. As time went by they decided to part ways and pursue their solo careers but 2013 saw the duo reuniting and doing what they do best, they are back with a bang.

Indeed, after a six-year break, Mafikizolo is back with a bang! Their latest single, Khona, featuring Uhuru, has taken the airwaves by storm and their fans are probably the happiest alive.

Mafikizolo singer Nhlanhla Nciza is ecstatic about their new release. In an interview with the sowetanlive she said, “This has been an exciting and a blessed project.”

The group isn't only making a comeback - they have also refreshed their sound. It is totally different from their previous hits. The duo, which is known for their Afro-pop style, has moved on to become an African house sensation.

Their new hit is a dance and sweat tune.

They have adopted an African style in the song and it sounds rather like an Angolan melody, though it is sung in isiZulu. By the look of things, it is making waves in other African countries as well.

"We wanted an African feel. Many of our tracks on the new album have a unique sound, though some of our songs are still Afro-pop," Nciza said. She calls it a blessing to have met some young producers in the industry who have helped with the evolution of the traditional Mafikizolo 60s sound. Their previous sound appeared more popular to a mature audience, so they have broadened their horizons and is set to reach out more to the youth.

The twosome were last seen in the music industry in 2006 after releasing their sixth album, Mabone, before trying to launch solo careers.

Mafikizolo started in 1996 with three members -Nhlanhla Nciza, Theo Kgosinkwe and the late Tebogo Madingoane.

Peace!!!
